Matthew E. Plowman received his BA in History and Humanities at Dana College (1993), his MA in History at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (1995) and his Ph.D. in History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1999). He is currently an Assistant Professor History at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. His research interests focus on imperialism and nationalist rivalries, with academic works on Anglo-German imperial rivalry in Southwest Africa and the Anglo-Irish factors in the Indo-German Conspiracy of San Francisco during World War I. His military interest in the First Nebraska Volunteer Regiment centers around his own six-year tour in the 195th Armor, which was attached to the First Nebraska's successor, the recently disbanded 134th Infantry of the Nebraska National Guard.
