Ronnie Wells is a painter and sculptor who resides in Salado, Texas. A 1968 Fine Arts graduate of Louisiana Tech University, he worked for four years as a medical illustrator at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston before becoming a full-time independent artist. Since then he has won numerous national awards for both his paintings and his sculptures. Wells was named Artist of the Year at the North Carolina Wildlife and Sportsman’s Show (1994-95), received three Best of Show Awards from the Kansas City Ducks Unlimited organization (1993), and was named Texas Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year (1984). He is a member of the Society of Animal Artists. His sculptures have been of subjects ranging from the human figure to all forms of wildlife. One of his bronze sculptures won the Best in the World Award during the World Wildlife Sculpture and Bronze Championships in Georgia in 1988. He won the Gold Award given by the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame in 1991, and was named Sculpture of the Year at the World Wildlife Exposition in Gatlinburg, Tenn., in 1993, and was selected Texas State Sculpture by the Texas Legislature in 1990.Wells, Ronnie is the author of 'Legend of Catfish and Little Bream' with ISBN 9780925417268 and ISBN 0925417262.
