Judith L. Howe, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Adult Development at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. She is also Associate Director for Education and Evaluation for the Bronx VA Geriatrics Research, Education and Clinic Center (GRECC) Program and Co-Director of the New York Consortium of Geriatric Education Centers. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on interdisciplinary education, interdisciplinary team development, and cross-disciplinary education. She is also an editor of Ethical Patient Care: A Casebook for Geriatric Health Care Teams, published by the Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Howe has extensive experience in geriatric interdisciplinary education, curriculum development, aging and public policy, and administration through her work at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, the GRECC, the United States Senate, and the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health. She was Secretariat to the 1982 United Nations World Assembly on Aging. She is also a founder and chair of the board of Linkage House, a project funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for lower-income older people in East Harlem, New York. In 1980, she received the NIH Award of Merit for her work in aging. She is also a recipient of a St. Lawrence University Alumni Citation and a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine. Dr. Howe and her colleagues have led many workshops for health professionals geared to strengthening interdisciplinary teams and techniques for teaching teamwork.
