Nanostructures with critical dimensions less than 100nm endow materials with unique and often superior mechanical, electronic, magnetic and optical properties, which are expected to lead to numerous advanced applications. The current nanotechnology roadmap focuses on exploration and prediction of novel properties of materials at the nanoscale, of efficient synthesis and manufacture of nanoscale materials, and of the integration of nanoscale materials into real-world devices and applications.
