A group of friends attending the University of Kansas discover a captivating Web site called piranhachomp.com that broadcasts - for the online betting community - seemingly real battles inside a giant fish tank between men and oversized piranhas. A couple of them even place bets on it to try to win some cash. Meanwhile, one of their roommates notices the same minivan across the street that keeps pulling up to that vacant house over and over again, each time dropping off carloads full of able-bodied men. After mustering the courage, the guys sneak into the vacant house one evening through a back window and discover a hidden trap door in the floorboards. After arming themselves with homemade weapons, they climb down the ladder to investigate. They walk for some time through dark cavern-like tunnels and suddenly encounter a badly injured man who turns out to be one of the fighters the boys just saw on piranhachomp.com! The man explains that he and others were tricked into participating in death-defying battles against giant piranhas inside huge fish tanks. While battling for his life, each man winds up being eaten alive by the giant fish. The injured man before the boys was the only one to have survived. The students soon realize that they have been photographed while exploring the underground tunnels by the Taiwanese gang that runs the operation. Believing that the guys now know too much, the gang threatens them and their families to keep quiet.
