Basil Hatim is Professor of Translation and Linguistics at Heriot-Watt University of Edinburgh, Scotland (currently Professor of English and Translation, American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates). He is a highly respected authority on translation and has written extensively on translation theory and applied translation studies.
