Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Abstracts of the Psychological and Behavioral Literature 1971-1994

At least two or more school-age children in every classroom in the United States have attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The symptoms of attentional deficits with and without hyperactivity are the primary reasons children and adolescents enter outpatient facilities and practitioners' offices. It is also evident that many of the children and adolescents with ADHD will continue to have symptoms including significant vocational, interpersonal, marital, and family problems well into their adult years. Estimates now project the number of adults with interfering attentional deficits to be approaching 2 million.This annotated bibliography increases the psychologist's diagnostic acumen improves intervention strategies leading to positive outcomes in patient care. The citations are drawn from journal abstracts, dissertations, and book and chapter records published in Psychological Abstracts (and its computerized counterparts: PsycINFO online and PsycLIT on compact disc).
