He is very active in the mathematics community and is a popular speaker at regional conferences throughout the year, including the California Mathematics Council for Community Colleges, the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the Texas Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges, the Michigan Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges, and the National Association for Developmental Education, among others.
