David and the Blue Racer

This is a story about an eight-year-old boy named David. He prays to catch a blue racer, one of the fastest snakes alive. When he goes camping with his dad, he actually does catch one. With great disappointment, the snake disappears. David prays for his return. After David returns home, his prayer gets answered again. Blue, the snake, surprisingly reappears. David’s parents agree to let David keep Blue as his very own pet, but they make it clear that it’s up to David to take care of him. David’s dad instructs him to do research on the snake, so he can take good care of him. David bonds with Blue. He feeds him. He gently pets him and talks to him.
