A native of Toledo, Ohio, Philana Marie Boles has a B.F.A. in creative writing and theater from Bowling Green State University. Prior to the release of her debut novel, Blame It on Eve, she lived in New York City, where she worked in the development office of Spike Lee's 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks and then as an assistant to the director of media relations at Glamour magazine. Besides the blessing of being both a writer and spokenword artist, her favorite gig has been working as a substitute teacher, mentoring youth along the way.
