SUMMARY

The late Benjamin Weintraub, whose more than sixty years as a practicing lawyer, law professor, author, lecturer, and scholar represented the epitome of dedication to the legal profession. His achievements since founding Levin & Weintraub in 1933 are too numerous to recount fully, but include countless articles on bankruptcy and related problems, monthly columns for New York Credit and Financial Magazine for more than thirty-five years, and two previous editions of this book. It also made him a most effective chairman of Committees on Bankruptcy and Debtor Relief for the National Bankruptcy Conference, the New York County Lawyers Association and the Bronx County Bar Association. Long recognized as a nationally respected and highly regarded expert, Mr. Weintraub had on more than one occasion testified before Congressional Committees on improvements in the former Bankruptcy Act and the current Code. In recognition of his singular stature and a lifetime of service to the law, Hofstra University established a Distinguished Professorship Chair in his honor in 1985, and the Financial Lawyers Conference of the Los Angeles County Bar Association honored him with this tribute in 1991: ?Presented to Benjamin Weintraub, In Honor of His Outstanding Scholarship, In Recognition of His Years of Contribution, And in Gratitude for His Dedication In and To the Development and Enhancement of American Bankruptcy Law.? About The Book: What Every Executive Should Know About Chapter 11 is written so that credit, business, and industry executives will understand the principles of bankruptcy law applicable to their dealings with a debtor in financial distress. Armed with the information provided by Mr. Weintraub, the executive will gain important insight into what posture to adopt when the debtor files a petition for chapter 11 or creditors file an involuntary petition. A comprehensive and informative text designed to give directors, officers, and managers, not only of the debtor organization but also of the creditor's and parties in interest, a thorough understanding of the various elements that are part of chapter 11 proceedings.
